[3/30/07] The detention pond should have a 2% slope along the bottom of the pond or
include a drainage pan with a .5% slope. In past experiences, flat pond bottoms are not
graded exact and end up holding water. The City has received many complaint calls when
detention ponds do not drain properly and hold water, especially with West Nile virus.

[3/27/071 Potholing of the water main was completed. There is marginally enough
separation between the intake and the existing water main. Include the blown -up detail
showing the separation on the plan so that the contractor and the inspector are aware of the
expectations during construction.

[9/8/06] Move area inlet in Frey to provide 5 feet (minimum) separation from the existing
water main.
Be sure and return all of your redlined plans when you re -submit.
If you have any questions regarding these issues or any other issues related to this project,
please feel free to call me at (970) 221-6750.

[2/23/07] Red lines were not returned for the Feb. submittal. A drainage report was
requested last week but was not submitted to Stormwater so the Engineering copy was
reviewed. There was no mention of verification of the outfall depth and no discussion of why
the cross pan was removed allowing water off of LaPorte to drain onto Frey. This change
requires changes to the drainage anaylsis. I had a phone conversation with Jerry from
Stewart and Associates when we requested the drainage report. He thought Wes had made T
the comment to remove the cross pan at Laporte. Wes didn't make that comment so we areP'
not sure how Jerry thought that. He told me that he saw a redline comment so I guess wed`\, J
need to see the redlines.

[3/28/07] The area inlets need to be centered with the flowline on each side of Frey Street.
CDOT Type 13 Area Inlets (Plan No. M-604-13) will work for this design and be acceptable
by the City. The only modification to this detail is to include a bicycle safe grate instead of
the standard one. Please specify a bicycle safe grate including manufacturer and
identification number and include all details in the plan set. After looking in the report, the
grate is specified. Please include the new inlet detail and the grate shown in the report in
the utility plan set.

[1/5/07] Please coordinate with the Stormwater Department on the detail for the area inlets.
Electronic Inlet details can be emailed as well.

[3/29/07] The water quality orifice calculations in the report are for extended detention, but
with the use of a riser pipe, not an orifice plate. Please use the table in Volume 3 of the
Urban Drainage manual that is for extended detention with the use of an orifice plate.

[3/30/07] The grading plan show a lower pond invert than what is in the report and on the
outlet structure detail. The invert should be at 42.5. Also, the outlet structure is not set at

[2/6/07] Drainage report does not address flows coming off of Laporte going into the new d
proposed inlet on Frey.
[1/8/07] If Laporte drainage is intended to be conveyed to Frey and into the proposed inlet,
have the inlets and storm drain been sized to carry these flows ? Please provide hydrology
calc's to verify this.

[2/6/07] Intersection has changed to a T intersection without a pan. Still need to show all
spot elevations and dimensions per LCUASS 7-28. You can show this on the current plan ori'
provide a separate intersection detail showing all of the required elevation, dimension and
slope information.

into Laporte. Please add the City standard street cut note to the Frey Street Plan. Note is

[2/5/07] Please refer to sheet 6, street design for Frey Street - The City has determined that
the elevations on Laporte will be slightly lower when the street is reconstructed in the near
future. A design elevation of 5047.79 was provided to you prior to the last submittal which is
the future elevation at the westerly PC on the southwest corner. You will need to design and
build to that future elevation for the drainage to work properly once Laporte is reconstructed
by the City. Please revise the plan to show this elevation and how the new curb and gutter
will tie back into the existing curb and gutter on Laporte.

[3/19/07] Tree protection notes have been added to the plans, still need specific notes
describing the measures to protect the remaining trees that are in close proximity of trees to
be removed. How will theremoval of such trees be done so that the protected trees will not
be damaged?
[2/2/07] Address protection of significant existing trees where other trees will be removed.
Several trees to be removed are very close to trees to remain. Need to identify proection
measures specifically for such trees.
[1/2/07] Describe tree protection methods in areas where other trees are to be removed.

[3/19/07] Add the protected trees to the grading plan. There appears to be significant
amounts of grading aroundthe majority of protected trees. Tree specification standards limit
cut and fill to 4" or less around protected trees. If this is unattainable, set up meeting with
Tim Buchanan and Dana Leavitt to discuss further mitigation measures.
