MIXED-USE - PDP - 28-07 - CORRESPONDENCE - CORRESPONDENCE-NEIGHBORHOOD MEETINGde4(v4gr 6 afi N.Lt /a3/off To Whom It May Concern: L,"'a, —2 7, -Zcv 7 Regarding: The proposal to redevelop the three -acre site at 3425 South Shields at the northwest corner of Shields and Richmond into a five -building project of businesses and multi -family residential buildings. I am opposed to this plan for the following reasons. (1) Higher density housing and businesses means there will be more vehicle traffic on Shields. The fumes from those vehicles will be in the air that I breathe inside and outside my home. Breathing such fumes is toxic. The air intake for my home is on the south and west side of my building, which is near Shields. (2) Vehicle fumes are already noticeable during periods of heavy traffic. With higher density housing and more businesses across the street, the traffic will not move as quickly as it does now. More vehicles will move more slowly and they will idle more often and longer, thus pouring more pollutants and noxious gases into the air. (3) Rezoning the area and the resulting increased traffic will mean it will take even longer to access the homes and apartments in Cunningham Corner and nearby neighborhoods. (4) Last, buildings higher than one-story will cut off the view I have of the foothills from my window. Certainly, my main concern is my health. I do not believe any person would want such a situation near their home. Thank you. Sincerely, Penne Howell Homeowner, Five Oaks Village Cc: Five Oaks Homeowners Board
