Anne,
Thanks for bringing the City's trash enclosure concerns to our attention. We've researched a couple of
items related to trash enclosures and sizing. Gallegos Sanitation couldn't offer much in the way of
sizing advice for multifamily and commercial trash receptacles, however they did pass on their
flexibility in scheduling multiple trash pick ups per week. They indicated that they typically pick up
trash two or three times per week for these types of buildings and always have the option of increasing
the frequency of pickups should the need arise.
We also called Parkwood East Apartments regarding their trash services. Given their apartment units
and trash enclosures, they average 3 yards of storage per 18.5 units and their trash service picks up three
times per week. They indicated that this is a comfortable situation and they've not had capacity
problems. By comparison, our proposed project will have 4 yards of storage per 18.0 multifamily units.
We're confident that this 33% additional storage will be sufficient for the limited trash produced by the
commercial. We're confident that the future HOAs managing the trash pickup service will be satisfied
with this design, and have options for increasing pickup frequency should the need arise. After
investigating this issue, our proposal is similar to existing systems that are operating satisfactorily. We
are comfortable proceeding with the trash enclosures as illustrated on the site plan. I hope this gives you
the backgro! and i nfo you need to approve our proposed trash enclosure concept.
Please feel free to call me (231.9632) should you wish to discuss. Thanks Anne,
Chris Matkins
