RE: Support for Townhouses at Olive Street Project — 220 East Olive St., Fort Collins,
CO
Dear Ted:
My wife and I own a 24 unit apartment located at 327 Mathews St., about one-half block
from the proposed Townhouses at Olive Street Project. We have had a chance to thoroughly
review the plans for the Townhouse Project.
Like many others, we were pleased that the prior project for a large apartment building on
this site was not approved due to the lack of adequate parking. However, we strongly support the
approval of this project for the following reasons:
1. The Project provides more than adequate parking on site and is in compliance with the
City Code in that regard.
2. The Project provides much needed residential living for permanent residents. Most of
the residents in this area are renters and do not provide the quality of interest and expenditures
that the Project will, with respect to the benefits to Old Town. This Project will afford
professional practitioners of various disciplines the opportunity to live nearby and increase their
interest and support of the downtown area in a way not currently provided by renters. This
project also compliments the Cortina Development by providing some high -end residential
property on the east side of College Avenue.
3. Esthetically, the architecture fits n, but in all candor, substantially upgrades the
overall area and hopefully, may set a trend for future redevelopment and upgrading of other
nearby properties.
