Mason St. (north entrance), the City of Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Department will host a neighborhood meeting to kick off the Downtown Hotel and Conference Center development review process. The proposal is for a hotel and conference center, retail and office space, a few residential units, and structured parking both for the new development and to replace the existing public parking. The project replaces what is now the public surface parking lot on Remington between Oak and Olive Streets. The Remington parking lot is a City -owned property that the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the City are partnering with developer Corporex Colorado to develop in accordance with City Plan and the Downtown Strategic Plan. The City and the DDA selected Corporex Colorado as the developer through a public Request For Proposals (RFP) process. Corporex has assembled a design team that includes OZ Architecture, BHA Design, Northern Engineering, and ELB Engineering, LLC. Representatives of the design team will be available at the neighborhood meeting to share preliminary design sketches of the hotel and conference center and to answer questions residents may have about the design and layout. This project will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Board twice, once to request a modification of the height standards in the Downtown -Old City Center zone district in March, and once sometime later in the spring or summer as the design is developed. You will receive separate invitations to both Planning and Zoning hearings. The project will also go before City Council because it is a proposal on City -owned property. You are welcome to attend the pertinent City Council meetings as well, which are advertised on our website at http://www.fcgov.com/cityclerk/agendas.php. The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from official records of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy and record keeping, or because of rental properties, a few affected residents may have been missed. Please feel free to notify any neighbors of this pending meeting so all may have the opportunity to attend.
