FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the City of Fort Collins
Community Room at 215 N. Mason St. (north entrance), the City of Fort Collins Planning
and Zoning Department will begin its development review process for a downtown hotel and
conference center with a neighborhood meeting. The public at large is invited to attend.
The proposal is for a hotel and conference center to be located on what is now the public
surface parking lot on Remington between Oak and Olive Streets. The project would also
include retail and office space, a few residential units and structured parking, both for the
new development and to replace the existing public parking. The Downtown Development
Authority (DDA) and the City are partnering with developer Corporex Colorado to develop
the City -owned lot, in accordance with City Plan, the Downtown Plan of Development, and
the Downtown Strategic Plan. Through a public Request For Proposals (RFP) process, the
DDA and City selected Corporex Colorado as the developer. Corporex has assembled a
design team that includes OZ Architecture of Denver and Boulder, BHA Design, Northern
Engineering of Fort Collins, and ELB Engineering, LLC, all of Fort Collins. Representatives
of the developer and the design team will be available at the neighborhood meeting to share
preliminary design sketches of the hotel and conference center and to answer questions
community members may have about the design and layout of the project.
This project will be presented to the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Board twice, once to request
a modification of the height standards in the Downtown -Old City Center zone district in
March, and once sometime later in the spring or summer as the design is developed. The
P&Z Board meets the third Thursday of every month starting at 6pm. Agendas for
upcoming P&Z meetings are available at fcgov.com/cityclerk/planning-zoning.php. The
project will also be presented to City Council for approval since it is a proposal on City -
owned property. City Council meeting schedules and agendas are available on our website
at fcgov.com/cityclerk/agendas.php.
The City of Fort Collins will make reasonable accommodations for access to City
services, programs, and activities and will make special communication
arrangements for persons with disabilities. Please call 970-221-6750 for
assistance.
