Both meetings went very well. Here is a recap of some of the concerns that were expressed: Maintain charm of downtown. No "Canyonization" - need to vary facades, not repeat same elements over and over, especially at first floor - break up long stretches. No arcading - need to bring facade to the edge of the property. Create a single story base differentiated from the second story. "Gull wing" roof at the top of the hotel directs eye upward; a different shape might not call so much attention to the height. Ice in the alley due to shadows created by building is a concern. The corner element facing College may need to be scaled down. A pedestrian activated crosswalk may be needed on Remington. Old Town Square should be the driver for design in the area. New development should be respectful to the historic buildings but not imitate them. The Council did not take any action or pass any resolution on the project, but generally made positive comments about the direction it's going. There were no specific objections to the height or setback modification requests. DARRIN B. JENSEN, CSI, CCS Architect OZ ARCHITECTURE 1805 29th Street, Suite 2054 . Boulder.
