We doubly regret that we are unable to attend tonight's meeting either. We had planned to go, but a family obligation arose, and, as you can surmise, that takes precedence. However, we wish to express our opinions and concerns and hope that you will consider them when the decision is made. The back of our home, in Arborgate, faces the Poudre Valley Plaza Center. From the patio behind our house, we currently have an unobstructed view of a portion of the mountains and open sky to the west. We also subscribe to AT&T for our cell phone use. A close relative of ours was, for quite some time, an AT&T representative, and she has advised us that our area has something called 3G coverage, which, she tells us, is the best, optimal system available. Also, we have never, in the 3-1/2 years we have lived in this area, had any problem with our cell phone service, connectibility or quality. Also, we have never had "dropped" calls, and therefore do not understand the need for ancillary equipment. You might be able to ascertain that we are not technophiles, but we are grateful residents of this beautiful area, and we would NOT like to see anything stand between our wonderful neighborhood and what views we have. We would also call your attention to the fact that a 55' pole has the potential to damage some of our neighbors' homes, if not ours as well, should a mishap occur. You might also know that we are subject to fierce winds coming over our homes from the west, and two of our neighboring homes suffered roof damage recently. The prospect of an enormous pole and its housings or casings and whatever else goes with it is frightening and, at the least, unpleasant. We have heard reports about possible health hazards and loss of value of our homes should this tower be built. While factual information seems to be scarce, these two factors, added to the negatives of the constuction itself and its own dangers, cause us to voice our definite "No" on the project. Our neighbors and we are predominantly seniors who live here because of its location and amenities, not the least of which are safety and attention to aesthetics. As taxpayers and citizens, we urge you to do whatever you can to cancel this effort to obstruct and endanger us, and that you and AT&T work diligently to find a less inhabited area for the tower. We are not against technology, but we see no need to have it encroach on the superb quality of our life. We trust you will consider our opinions and statements with the same force and effect as if we had been able to be present this evening. Thank you for your public service.
