College Ave. PO Box 580 Fort Collins, CO 80522-0580 970.221.6750 970.224.6134 - fax rcgo v. com/currentplanning On Tuesday, February 21, 2012, beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at Lesher Middle School*, 1400 Stover Street, the City of Fort Collins Planning Department will conduct a neighborhood information meeting to discuss a development proposal in your neighborhood. The purpose of the neighborhood meeting is to provide information about converting the existing house at 1309 Newsom Street for the benefit of the Poudre School District. As proposed, the Poudre School District would provide a school in a residential setting for middle school and high school students with developmental disabilities. These students are presently served in a program known as the Walter Cooper Memorial Vocational Training Center presently housed at 740 East Stuart Street. Approximately 20 students are being served in this program, which has been in its present location for about 40 years. In addition, there would be four (4) full-time teachers and paraprofessionals. The school would operate during the normal school hours during the normal school year. There would be no activity during evenings, weekends, school holidays or over summer break. The purpose of this meeting on February 21" is to give all participants the opportunity to ask questions of the applicants and express any concerns in an informal setting. This is an information sharing meeting only and no official City decision will result from the meeting. A Site Plan Advisory Review request has not yet been submitted to the City for review by staff. A representative for the Poudre School District will be present to discuss their proposal. A City representative will be present to respond to questions about the proposed development. Questions, comments, and concerns will be recorded. The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from official records of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy and record keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property owners may have been missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending meeting so all neighbors may have the opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend this meeting, written comments are welcome.
