EEC Project No. 1062104
Mr. Minatta:
This letter is.follow.up to conversations concerning support of the box culvert and separation
between the underlying duct bank and the box culvert base. As discussed with Tom Hartmann,
we anticipate stabilization to develop support under the box culvert with 12-inches of import rock
resulting in less than 3/4 inches of settlement under the design bearing pressure of 1,000 psf.
Providing a "void" between the top of the duct bank and base of the box culvert would not
adversely affect performance of the culvert and the outlined subgrade support and settlement
would be appropriate, regardless. The "void" should be developed with a compressible material
to prevent infilling of that void with the subgrade materials.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions
concerning the above information, or if we can be of further service to you in any other way,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
Earth Engineering Consultants, Inc.
