Re: Air Care Colorado Emission Testing Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado
Right -turn Deceleration Lane Treatment
Dear Gloria:
The purpose of this document is to provide an engineering recommendation for the treatment of the
existing right-tum deceleration lane along southbound SE Frontage Road at the Air Care Colorado
proposed exit only driveway access.
As part of the traffic analysis conducted, CDOT requested that the driveway operations be switched such
that the main access for the Air Care Colorado project, site be located to the northeast and the exit only
driveway be located to the southeast and aligned with the auto dealership driveway across SE Frontage
Road. As a result, the existing right -turn deceleration lane along southbound SE Frontage Road is now
accessing the exit only driveway for the project. The proposed treatment to address the extra asphalt at
this location is to. eradicate the existing striping identifying the turn lane, extend the bike lane striping
parallel to the through lane, add hatch striping within the deceleration lane taper and storage area, and
install delineators to clearly define the area. There are no existing signs identifying the deceleration lane
that need to be removed.
A design plan identifying the striping to be removed and new striping and delineators to be added has
been attached for your reference. if you are in agreement with the proposed treatment, please indicate
your concurrence by signing the line below.
