Bob,
This morning, Glen Schluetter, Ted Shepard and I met with Mike Bello and Bob Gowing to share the new
floodplain information for the Vine and College area and to discuss the impact to the RMI2 development.
The new information shows approximately two feet of flooding across the RM12 site. I explained that the
new information is not regulatory, but our recommendation would be to assume that there is two feet of
flooding across the site and then to elevate the lowest floor elevation two additional feet above the flood
level (freeboard). We discussed possible flood insurance implications, but I emphasized that our main
concern is the safety and property protection of the new building. We discussed architectural styles that
might work to elevate the floor level. I also explained that we would be sharing our modeling information
with FEMA for FEMA to study in the future. From our initial discussions, it sounded like they would
probably be able to incorporate the building elevation into their plans. Although this was not good news for
RMI2, Mike and Bob were appreciative of our sharing this information with them at this time.
Please let me know if you have any questions about our discussion.
Thanks!
Marsha
