RE: 218 W Laurel Apartments
Dana,
I had the chance to show the drawings to the City Engineer, and his evaluation echoed what thought might be an
approach at our meeting.
The drawing as shown is acceptable to Engineering from our understanding that as a distance of at least 8 feet clear
without obstruction is maintained behind the alley (minus the trash enclosure and possibly the indicated porch, which
are fine to remain as is). No additional evaluation, variance request, etc. is needed.
Should you propose to add landscaping strips between the garages as you had redlined at the meeting, Engineering has
no concerns with this provided that the 8 foot clear is still maintained from the alley. Thus, the landscape strips would
have to be reduced from what you sketched (about 8 feet in length, down to about 4 feet in length).
Engineering won't require "no parking" signs. I'll defer to Courtney and your design team on whether they're needed or
desired. Let me know of any thoughts or concerns.
Thanks,
Marc
