College Avenue Ft Collins, CO 80524 Re: Verizon Wireless Planning Objectives — Wireless Telecommunications Equipment Review (Verizon Wireless Project Name: FTC Wolf Pup) Dear Ms. Aspen, My firm is a real estate consultant to Verizon Wireless (VAW) LLC, d/b/a Verizon Wireless ('Verizon Wireless's and related entities and partnerships. Verizon Wireless is seeking approval from the City of Ft Collins Current Planning Department to place a stealth telecommunications facility at the City of Ft. Collins Senior Center located at 1200 Raintree Drive, Ft Collins, CO. According to the City of Ft Collins Planning Staff, Verizon Wireless must obtain Wireless Telecommunication Equipment (New Facility) Review approval in order to proceed with the installation Verizon Wireless proposes to install panel antennas on the existing elevator penthouse, which will be extended 10' to a total height of 36'-3-'/2" to accommodate the antennas and provide the height needed for adequate coverage to the area. Please note the City of Ft Collins Land Use Code states "Whenever a wireless telecommunication antenna is attached to a building roof, the height of the antenna shall not be more than fifteen (15) feet over the height of the building". In order to blend well with the architectural features of the Senior Center Verizon Wireless is only requesting 10' over die height of the building rather than the 15' allowed by the Land Use Code. This extension will be designed out of brick to match the existing penthouse. The proposed antennas will be mounted to the elevator penthouse and will be painted a brick color to blend. The equipment building will be incorporated into the existing Senior Center building within the courtyard on the north side of the southernmost portion of the Senior Center. The building will be constructed of brick to match the Senior Center and will not be visible from the exterior front or sides of the Senior Center. The generator originally proposed at the rear of the Senior Center has been removed and is no longer included in this facility design. Extensive work has been done to locate a telecommunications facility in this area since July of 2005 (new telecommunications facilities generally take 12-18 months to complete). Of a total of 11 sites pursued, the City of Ft Collins Senior Center was the only viable location. Please see attached "Pursued Properties" list.
