You may put each of the instances in the same letter by devoting a paragraph to each location. Please submit an exhibit that labels each location with a number or lettering system that matches the locations in the letter. I'll need the associated sheets from the utility plans as well so that Rick has everything he needs to review your request. I don't have a set to give him as they went back as redlines with the last round otherwise you wouldn't have had to do that. It would be great if you could get this to me by tomorrow so that Rick and Erika have time to review your request prior to your next submittal. You don't have to however. You could resubmit the request with the next round but you run the risk of redesign should they either not be approved OR they are approved with conditions, such as a concrete street section for instance. A concrete section would require additional design as I mentioned in a previous email and that would require additional review. I know you are trying to wrap this up as quickly as possible so I highly recommend that you submit the variance as soon as possible. I hope this helps, if not, let me know and I'll try explain it better. Thank you, Susan >>> "Ryan Banning" <rbanning(ZDtstinc.com> 03/09/09 5:50 PM >>> Susan, I was able to increase the cover over the storm at the locations that you had in question to 37" from 25" (st-1 B1 page 84) and 33" from 27" (st-4B page 90) without more than negligible changes to the hydraulics of the storm system or increasing the waterline depth beyond what is reasonable and used in other locations throughout the site. Are you okay with resolving the cover issue by increasing the cover as I have shown instead of proceeding with a variance letter for these locations? It appears that the only location other than these two that you took issue with the depth of pipe was along the raw water system pipe at Sykes. In that location we have 2.4' from top of pipe to finished grade and it appeared that you were okay with flow fill for 5' of each side to stabilize the pavement section. Do you still need to see a variance letter for any of these locations or others? I don't see any other problem spots as far as cover goes on our p&p's. Thanks, Ryan Banning Steve. We met in person to go over your original variance request and he gave me his requirements verbally. Those in turn were placed in DMS and appeared in your comment letter over a year ago. Susan >>> "Ryan Banning" <rbanning@tstinc.com> 3/10/2009 8:22 AM >>> Susan, Would you please send me a copy of Rick Richter's notice of denial for our original variance letter? I do not recall seeing a copy of that and would like a copy for our files. Thank you, Ryan Banning TST, Inc. To date, none of the locations that do not meet the minimum cover requirements have been approved including the last instance you mentioned below. I am not the person who will either approve them or not so I can't waive the variance requests, I'm sorry. The original variance request was reviewed last year by Rick Richter who was the Pavement Manager at the time and he denied the variance pending a proper submittal. Please see the comment letter for the complete history if you have any questions. So yes, please submit a variance letter for each of the locations that do not meet the minimum cover
