To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to voice my complaint about the proposed expansion of the Core
Knowledge Charter School on the corner of Stuart and Lemay. I have three major issues.,
One is the traffic. Two is the violation of the agreement between Stuart Professional Park
and the previous church for sharing parking. And the third is the number of students that
this charter school is permitted to have on the existing campus.
The traffic, volume and flow pattern at the school is unacceptable and dangerous for both
vehicles and pedestrians. The school now has approximately 500 students who regularly
attend classes and the schools permit allows for approximately 800 students. The traffic
problem will only get worse when more students are allowed on campus.
The Stuart Professional Park and the previous church had an agreement that carried over
to the school that stated that the church was entitled to only twenty parking spaces during
the week. This was so that patients and office workers in the Stuart Professional Park
had adequate parking during the workweek and the church members could park in the
Stuart Professional Park area on the weekends. The staff at the school and the student
drivers that are now allowed to drive to school undoubtedly exceeds the twenty parking
space limitations. This agreement was based on sound municipal planning, and should be
adhered to.
If the addition to the school is allowed to be built, the square footage of the school will be
increased, and it could mean even more students could be enrolled without violating the
city fire codes. This would exacerbate both the traffic problem and the parking problem.
Sincerely,
