Parking stalls for a design vehicle 6 it 4 in. wide and 16 9 in. long should have a stripe projection of 16 it 3 in. ar parallel stall length of 20 it 9 in. 2. Small -car -only stalls (7 it 5 in, wide by 15 it long) shou only be used at constrained locations or in remnants space. The number of these stalls should not excet 105b of total parking capacity at a site. 3. Angles between 76 and 89' are not recommended f one-way design because these angles permit drivers smaller cars to back out and exit the wrong way. 4. Angled parking is not recommended for use with tw way aisles as drivers often attempt to make a U-turn in stalls on the other side of the aisle. 5. Add 1 it to the module for surface parking bays witho curbs or other parking guides (frequent poles or colum or walls) in areas with frequent heavy snowfall. 6. To maintain the same level of service (LOS), reduce t module (M) by 3 in.. for each additional inch in stall wic (SW) while maintaining minimum aisle width (see fo notes 2 and 3 to accompanying chart). For example, B it 9 in. @ 90° on 61-ft module = LOS A 9 it 0 in. @ 90° on 60-ft 3-in. module = LOS A 7. Columns and light poles may protrude into a parking mr ule a combined maximum of 2 it as long as they do r affect more than 25% of the stalls in that bay. For axe ple, a 2-ft encroachment by a column on one side of t aisle or 1 it each from columns on both sides is permis ble. Mary S. Those areas of a parking lot that are approved as long-term parking have the option to include compact parking stalls. Such approved long- term parking areas may have up to forty (40) percent_ compact car stalls using the compact vehicle dimensions set forth in Table B. (See Figure 4) Article 3, Page 36 Supp. 14 FIGURE A We feel that the current Table A and Figure 4 standards are in need of evaluation and possible revisions. Based on King Soopers extensive experience with parking lots and customer needs, the module width of 58 feet will serve the standard equally well or better than would a plan which complies with the standard. Modification Request Long View Marketplace, Parking Lot Dimensions November 5, 2003 This request is for a modification to the parking stall and drive aisle width dimension requirements as outlined in the Fort Collins Land Use Code. The modification being requested is from section 3.2.2 (L)(1), Parking Stall Dimensions and from Table A and Figure 4 of that section. The parking module is one-way, with an angle of 60 degrees. MODIFICATION The dimensions used for the Long View parking layout are those requested by King Soopers. The module width for King Soopers is 18' for the stall, with a 22' wide aisle of which 14' is for one-way traffic, leaving 4' on either side for people to push their carts. This is a tried and true method for King Soopers and has worked well in many of their locations. (See Figure A) The project does not meet the standard as depicted in Table A and Figure 4. The request is for a modification to the parking stall and drive aisle width dimension requirements. JUSTIFICATION Table A and Figure 4 would indicate that the bay or module width for 90 degree perpendicular parking is 62 feet and that the module required for one-way 60 degree parking is 66 feet. Therefore, diagonal parking, which is easier to maneuver in and out of, requires more space than perpendicular parking. We have investigated other standards for parking modules that would indicate parking lots function with dimensions much smaller that those we are proposing at Long View.
