soil with the weight of the equipment. Simons performed this same
activity at 12 of the 13 onsite burrows but they did not perform any work
at the burrow along the irrigation canal that was speculated to have
formally been a natal burrow during past seasons.
Going forward Campus Crest is willing to continue daily monitoring of the site
for fox activity through its employees and Cedar Creek Associates up until
substantive construction work begins.

Re: The Grove at Fort Collins —Fox Burrows
Dear Ms. Lindsay Ex
In response to your request for additional information regarding the abandonment of the
fox burrows on the site of The Grove at Fort Collins we are submitting the following summary of
events:
Campus Crest hired wildlife professionals, Cedar Creek Associates, to investigate
the site and determine the location of the fox burrows and map their
findings. In addition to these services Cedar Creek was hired to perform
ground water monitoring of the property. In performing these two scopes
of work Cedar Creek has visited the site on a multitude of occasions over
the last couple of years to observe the existing conditions.
On November 9, 2011, Mr. Andrew Brogdon, a Campus Crest Superintendent,
went to the site to investigate the fox burrows and begin moving towards
the mitigation of the onsite fox dens. Mr. Brogdon utilized the site maps
provided by Cedar Creek Associates illustrating the locations of the
existing fox dens in performing his review. Mr. Brogdon did not observe
any foxes or fox activity while on site and he proceeded to place moth
balls in the burrows to help prevent their future inhabitation.
On November 17, 2011, Mr. Brogdon again visited the site and again did not
witness any foxes or fox activity. He then proceeded to place additional
moth balls and coyote urine pellets to continue to discourage the use of the
burrows. (Note: These preventative materials were as prescribed by Cedar
Creek Associates)
On November 23, 2011, after receiving City approval to abandon the fox burrows,
Campus Crest hired Simon Contractors to perform this work.
On November 28, 2011, Simon Contractors met with Mr. Brogdon on site where
they again inspected the burrows and found no activity. Subsequently,
Simons Contractors began to fill in the burrows. They performed this work
with a skid steer loader/Bobcat in which they scooped up -adjacent onsite
soil and then filled the burrow with that soil. They then graded the area in

Good morning Diane,
In regards to the Leadership Team followup response that I provided to you earlier this week, I would like
to also pass onto you the letter from Campus Crest that explains the fox den surveying, deterrence, and
backfilling process. In the attached letter, their team also officially commits to the daily monitoring of the
fox dens. I was out on site with one of their representatives this morning and can confirm that the fox dens
have been filled in accordance with the attached letter.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions and thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Lindsay
