Subject: Campus Crest
Steve, Happy New Year! You may have heard that the president and CEO of Campus Crest came to campus just
before Christmas to learn about our institute and see if there is a way we could work together. They contacted
us after one of the neighborhood citizens spoke to them at the end of their December meeting (which you may
have been part of). We found them cordial and accommodating ... and open to the ideas of sustainability and
green building. They requested a proposal from IBE to become involved in 1. Helping them with green ideas for
the local project and, 2. Helping educate their company on sustainability and green building for all future
projects. I spoke with them yesterday and they are excited to move ahead —we are stressing that we will
engage with them if they are genuine in their interests and goals, including pursuing green building certification
of some sort.
They hope to participate in a 'Community Workshop', potentially on Jan. 19th, facilitated by our institute and
involving representatives from the City, the neighborhood, the campus, and other project stakeholders.
Let me know your thoughts on what I've outlined. If you are good with this direction, maybe you can help us
identify a location for a workshop. We can talk after tennis tomorrow — I think we'll be good to eat something
afterward.
