played out, but I'm pretty sure the swale discussion was not resolved. These are the three things I discussed with
Nick and others as they were leaving that we need to figure out what we want:
1. What is the best treatment for the swale bottom?
a. We've heard a 6" wide by 18" deep concrete ribbon along the swale (approx. 700') to ensure that
the swale always maintains positive drainage
b. Basil also suggested forebays and concrete sections along specific intervals along the swale?
c. What else was suggested?
d. FYI — Northern is contesting that a 6"x18" concrete ribbon is potentially overkill... they would prefer
not to do this option...
e. I am getting the centerline of the swale put on the landscape plans so I can evaluate the
landscaping as it relates to the swale
2. What is the maintenance plan?
a. Key issue one —how will they maintain positive drainage?
b. Key issue two —how will the vegetation be restored after they return the channel to convey the flow?
c. Key issue three —who pays for this? Manages it?
How do we monument this?
a. I heard one option was notes on the utility plans and language in the DA
b. I also heard others do not like this...
I think, in my humble opinion, it would be good to come to a consensus internally on what we want, and then go
back to Northern. But, I've been wrong before (yes, it's rare, but it's happened@). I'd be up for hearing thoughts
from others that were in the room longer than I was.
Thanks,
Lindsay

Thanks Marc.
You are correct; Wes is your point of contact for the DA on this project. I imagine he and Glen
will be working on this one and will call me into the discussion if necessary.

Thanks Lindsay between your email and after getting an email from Basil I realize that the swale should also be
another "key issue" in the DA in a message that I had sent out yesterday (Brian I will forward this message to you
for reference — traditionally if you have DA language you would coordinate it with Wes and Glen, I assume that
would still be the case here.)
I'm assuming for now that Wes is the keeper of the pertinent DA language for this. Knowing how this issue might
(or might not) delay being able to produce completed language for a draft would be helpful as again, we're getting
the pressure from Lucia's office to produce a DA draft but I don't claim to know if we're in the position to do so yet.
