The meeting was very informative. As I mentioned at the meeting, the developer of the proposed Remington Annex sent a letter to some of the property owners in response to our letter dated June 22, 2011. A copy of the response letter is attached for your review. Please note one of the developer's proposed solutions to the traffic problem associated with the project: "Further to the traffic solution, the entrance to the Remington Annex parking structure will align with the Collegio Building's College Avenue curb cut thereby allowing for a smoother transition from Northbound College Avenue across the alley into the Remington Annex." The "College Avenue curb cut" referred to in the developer's letter is a one lane entrance to the developer's Collegio Building parking lot. In order to use the curb cut to access the parking structure at the proposed Remington Annex, northbound traffic on College Avenue would have to pass through the parking lot at Collegio, cross the alley between College Avenue and Remington Street and then enter the parking structure. It is hard to imagine the chaotic traffic situation between the Collegio building and the proposed Remington annex. The current traffic situation in the alley is already overcrowded. It is mind boggling to contemplate the increased traffic of 65 new parking spaces entering and leaving the Remington Annex from both ends of the alley and a new "Street" from College Avenue through the Collegio parking structure. In addition, as we mentioned at the meeting last night, the developers have stated that they intend to allow their tenants at the Collegio Building to share the proposed parking structure at Remington Annex. The alleyway was not designed or intended to accommodate traffic on such a scale. Use of the College Avenue curb cut for access to Remington Annex will also impact traffic on College Avenue. It is unlikely that the developers disclosed their intention to use the curb cut for such a purpose when they obtained a permit for the curb cut. It is questionable if a permit for the curb cut would have been granted if its currently proposed use had been disclosed. In your letter dated October 3, 2011, you stated that a second neighborhood meeting was tentatively scheduled for November 7, 2011. 1 will be out of town on November 7 and 8. 1 could attend if the meeting were moved to the 9th. If the meeting is held on the 7th, please do not construe my absence as acquiescence to the developer's plans for Remington Annex.
