Subject: West Range PDP Type 1
Hi Sherry,
I spoke with Brent with Ripley Design about my comments on West Range PDP that I submitted on 12-27-12.
I have included below my 12-27-12 comments and what I agree to on each of those comments.
Having talked through the comments this is what we agreed would be changed on the landscape plan. I am ok with the
new changes listed below being made and don't need further review. Brent indicated the following adjustments to the
landscape plan will be promptly made for submittal.
1. Evaluate using Canopy Shade trees in place of the two pear trees along Meldurm Street. (LUC 3.2.1 D 2 b)
IThetwo ornamental trees along Meldrum in back of the walk with be changed to canopy shade trees using a tree
with a narrow crown form such as a Linden.
2. Please review the parking lot island for adding an additional canopy shade tree based on its dimension.
(LUC 3.2.1 E 5 b)
IThe parking lot island cannot include an additional tree because of the building overhang that covers the east port of
the island.
3. Please review the possibility of adding trees in the landscape perimeter area along the alley. This includes the
/ landscape areas between the entry and exit and just to the east of the parking lot exit along the alley.
/ The landscape area along the alley between the entrance and exist cannot accommodate a tree because of an
✓✓✓ electrical box being added to this area and line of site issues. In the landscape area just to the east of the exit to
the parking lot a Swedish columnar Aspen will be added in the planting bed.
4. Please consider increasing the use of canopy trees by changing the three Spring Snow Crabapples and flowering
pear along the west boundary by the parking area at the NW part of the site to Canopy shade trees. Using
Kentucky coffee tree for the crabapples and Redmond Linden for the pear is one possibility. This will also help
mitigate at this site for the loss of the large Hackberry tree.
One tree will be changed to a canopy shade tree. This is the Flowering Pear at the north end of the west boundary.
Kentucky Coffee tree or Linden were discussed. The three Spring Snow Crabs will remain in the area as shown in the
rain garden. The three ornamental trees appear better suited to meet the objectives identified for the garden for this
