College Ave. PO Box 580 Fort Collins, CO 80522-0580 970.221.6750 970.224.6134 -fax fcgov.com/currentplanning I received a copy of your letter to Ted Shepard dated August 12, 2009 and would like to thank you for your feedback regarding the City of Fort Collins' public meeting process. Neighborhood meetings provide valuable information and we welcome and value your constructive input. It sounds as though you've had some negative experiences. I welcome your call to further discuss your concerns. In response to your requests about the meeting scheduled on August 24, I would like to provide the following information: City staff members attending the meeting are knowledgeable about the project and are able to discuss the application and the City processes. The purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the neighborhood residents regarding the issues that affect them. At these meetings, staff welcome input, listen to your concerns, and do their best to answer all questions; however, there are times when additional research is required. When the application does go to the Planning and Zoning Board and when applicable to City Council, the complete file will allow staff to evaluate the application against the code requirements. Comprehensive meeting minutes are taken at the P&Z meetings and City Council meetings and are available upon request. Staff does not represent the developer, and meeting notices are provided in accordance with City requirements. The application file in its entirety is available for your review; please feel free to schedule a time to meet with the project planner Ted Shepard to go over the materials. He may be reached by telephone at 970-221-6343. Once again, thank you for contacting the City of Fort Collins regarding public meetings. We take great pride in outreach, community involvement, and transparency and I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you pbout methods and suggestions to improve our public meetings.
