VINE DR. - PDP - PDP110013 - CORRESPONDENCE - CORRESPONDENCE-HEARING (9)September 6, 2011 To: City of Fort Collins, Community Development and Neighborhood Services Attn: Courtney Rippy, Planning Technician From: Charles Richard and Barbara Adams 723 N Shields St. Fort Collins, CO 80521 We have read the Fort Collins Building Standards regarding Project Compatibility, Residential Building, Standards, and Architectural Character. We feel that putting a T-Mobil or any other tower on the property located on the SW Corner of Shields St and Vine does not meet these requirements. A tower in this location would be very visible from all directions. T-Mobil approached us twice in recent years about the possibility of putting a tower on our property. We denied the request because we felt it would not be "neighborly" to bring a tower into the Community. However, we now recognize the need for additional towers in this area and realize that properly located, they could benefit this corner of the city. We have a large clear area just north of the corner that is proposed where it would not be noticeable in any direction. T-Mobil has surveyed this property recently. Verizon is also interested in putting a tower on this property which would be much more appropriate. We realize the City is not concerned about the affect it would have on our property if it is located only about 20 feet from our property line. However, this is the area closest to our housing and it receives the heaviest use by our family. If it has to be erected there, it should be at least as far away from our property line as it is tall regardless of its "collapsibility". Our family has lived in and owned property in Fort Collins since the 1800's. We think it is a beautiful city and appreciate the manner that it has developed over the years. But, we do feel a tower situated on the Shields and Vine property is very inappropriate, especially since it can just as easily be erected a very short distance to the north and would not de -value anyone's land or the general architectural appearance to the city as it would not be noticeable. The location we have suggested which is bordered on the west and the north by the city, would be much more compatible with the community and what we believe are the goals of the City of Fort Collins.
