We plan to offer a convenience market type concept store that will include the sale of fresh food products (bakery items, deli sandwiches, cut fruits, salads, parfaits, etc), hot food items and groceries along with 7-Eleven's signature brands of Slurpee, Big Gulp, Big Bite and coffee. We also have a line 7-Select private -brand products with quality is equal to or better than the name brands that sit on our shelves, but are 10 to 20 percent less expensive. Our fresh food products are made daily and delivered daily to our stores. 7-Eleven stores are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our facilities are well lit at night and monitored all hours of the day. We serve and are a reflection of the existing traffic and densities surrounding each site. We strive to maintain a balance between encouraging customer traffic while discouraging loitering. We do not allow loitering at our stores. Loitering is a deterrent, not an attraction, to our customers. It is in our interest to do everything possible to discourage loitering and we do. We are certainly on the same side of this issue as are our neighbors. If there is a loitering problem, store personnel are to call the police who can take action against loiterers. We have worked hand in hand with law enforcement in efforts to reduce incidents in other locations and serve as a 24 hour watchful eye for both our location and surrounding neighbors. We also take our responsibility as an alcohol retailer very seriously. We first introduced our "Come of Age' training program to store personnel in 1984. This in-depth training focused on the proper and legal ways to sell alcohol. Over the years we incorporated all age -restricted products — tobacco, lottery tickets and potential inhalants — into the program to ensure our store staffers knew local laws and how to refuse an illegal sale in a way that reduces conflict. In addition, we recently, voluntarily and proactively created a new process for our stores to fight underage sales of restricted products. The 2-D bar code on a customer's driver's license is scanned, and the birth date is read by the point - of -sale (POS) scanner. The POS is programmed to determine whether that date represents someone who is old enough for the purchase to proceed. No personal information is transmitted through the scan.
