ALARM SYSTEMS AND NOTIFICATION OF EMERGENCIES
During an emergency the fire alarm will sound off. This is the only alarm and therefore if it goes
off all personnel must exit the building they are in at this time. If the alarm fails to sound,
personnel will actuate an alarm by using a loud voice and repeating the words "Fire", "Fire",
"Fire" over the PA system.
TYPES OF EVACUATION
At Colorado Iron and Metal, because of the nature of the business and the size of the building, it
is felt that if any emergency requiring evacuation of the building arises the entire building will be
evacuated. Therefore there will only be one type of alarm. This alarm will mean there is to be a
full evacuation of the building, following established evacuation procedures.
SPILLS/CLEAN-UP
All employees are properly trained in Hazardous Communication, Personal Protective
Equipment at initial hire and annually. All small spills are to be clean-up immediately using spill
absorbent materials furnished by the company. Keep all discarded materials in a separate
container for disposal. Contact Susan Jones or Clear Conscience Compliance to have discarded
materials properly disposed of by a third party. The emergency shut-off switch will be used
anytime there is an issue with the diesel/gas fuel tank. If at any time there is a large spill, contact
local emergency responders as well as Clear Conscience Compliance immediately for proper
clean-up.
TRAINING
The following personnel are trained to assist in the safe and orderly evacuation of the building:
A. Kent Garvin
B. Dan Garvin
C. Todd Hughes
D. Marty Garvin
All new employees will be advised of this emergency action plan and will be required to read
and understand it. Colorado Iron and Metal will review the plan with each employee whenever
the plan is changed or if an employee's responsibilities change. Colorado Iron and Metal will
also ensure the plan is reviewed for changes annually.
