As for shrubs and trees we don't have a lot of choices for native species and a lot of them are fruit bearing. You could use: Cottonwood, Hackberry, Ponderosa Pine, Rocky Mountain juniper, Chokecherry, Woods rose and American plum. But my best suggestion is to have a local artist do some are work on it, graffiti artists will usually leave someone else's work alone. Crystal From: Daylan Figgs Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2012 9:58 AM To: Crystal Strouse Subject: species mix Crystal I will need a couple of species mixes for Pineridge. 1. Grass/forbs along the road; this can be more than a single species mix. 2. Shrub/tree species that can be used to screen the west wall of Dixon Creek Substation. The wall will be constructed with block and will be approximately 12 feet high. I would like to avoid berry producing shrubs (may not be a place we want to attract wildlife); also any shrubs that are thorny may be a good choice (make it difficult for graffiti artists to approach the wall). Call if you have questions or would like to discuss. Daylan 2/23/2012
