HomeMy WebLinkAboutDIXON CREEK & TIMBERLINE SUBSTATIONS - SPAR - SPA120005 - CORRESPONDENCE - (13)Do you know the status of the proposed walls surrounding the substations at Timberline and at Overland? Laurie sent
me what she had but it was only a construction drawing. Darin asked me to look at their proposal for the walls and what
landscape is proposed to look like.
Do you have anything you can send me?
Thanks

Sorry, I might have missed your email.
I think the walls need more detailing to visually break them up. I would suggest a "bottom" in a different color and
different block modulation, probably about 2 % -3' in height with a lighter colored block as the main field. There could
also be a top course; in essence a bottom, middle, and top. I don't think we want to call a lot of attention to the walls
since they are backed by 20-60' unattractive towers but they should be attractively designed to break the mass.
I think the site is substantially under -planted. There should be more evergreen plantings and more shrubs, quite a few
more. I know they have some security issues but they should explore more evergreens. Ultimately the landscaping is the
visual protection, the walls are for security not to make it look better. I also think there should be plantings on the west
side at Overland, even though it is a natural area. There is a subdivision that directly overlooks the Overland substation ,
and a substantial amount of community traffic around the Timberline sub station.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Status — there is a neighborhood meeting tonight for the walls (see attached notice) with staff review next Wednesday,
September 5`h. The hearing before P&Z, which is a Site Plan Advisory Review, is tentatively planned for October.
Plans — I thought I had sent you the plans last week, as per your request, but I'm attaching the submittal documents here
as well. Let me know if you have any comments that we can incorporate into the staff review next week.
Thanks,
Lindsay
