Remington Annex October 5, 2011 Maxiiimo Development Group LLC has proposed a multi -unit housing project called the Remington Annex, located at the combined property addresses of 709, 711 and 715 on Remington Street. This housing project, if approved, would provide 42 units of housing within walking and biking distance of the CSU campus and downtown Fort Collins. The development includes an onsite ally -accessed parking structure to accommodate the increased parking needs. In order to make the Remington Annex the best possible fit for Fort Collins, the Remington Annex project will thrive upon collaboration between the architects, designers, the City of Fort Collins and community members. Fort Collins is renowned for being family -friendly, student -friendly, a vibrant and lively city, and overall one of the best locations in the country to live. The Remington Annex is an ideal project to reinforce and advance these positive aspects of the community of Fort Collins. This design of the Remington Annex addresses a critical issue of housing in Fort Collins. As population grows, providing housing is increasingly becoming a problem that must be addressed. The Remington Annex addresses this conflict while still maintaining the attractive, vibrant sense of architecture that Fort Collins is known and loved for. The structures located on these properties have been deemed substandard and unfit for human occupancy due to structural integrity and lack of fire safety among various other concerns. These buildings are a detriment to the community and a poor example of the architecture that Remington Street is known for. However we recognize the quality of character in the fagade of the building at 711 Remington. In preservation of this character, the design for the Remington Annex project incorporates the balance and mix of similar finish materials, repeats historic details, and maintains the scale of the city block by breaking the fagade into three distinct building fronts. The Remington Annex will prosper with the collaboration of community and designers. The finished design will not only preserve the historic character of the property but will also be an improvement to the architecture of Remington Street as a whole.
