RE: Staff Determination of Eligibility of Timan Property, 6500 Block of S. College Avenue
The farm site located on the west side of the 6500 block of S. College Avenue, known as the
Timan Property, was surveyed at the reconnaissance level on November 14, 2001 by historic
preservation staff. It is staff s opinion that the buildings and structures at this location do not
retain sufficient integrity to qualify for designation as a Fort Collins Landmark.
The property consists of a single story frame farm house and associated livestock buildings. The
house is a gable roof vernacular building, constructed circa 1950. It is sided with asbestos
shingles, and displays very little ornamentation. The only embellishment on the house is a hood
and stoop entry, located on the west elevation. Modern aluminum frame windows and doors
have replaced the original materials. The house appears to be in fair condition. The livestock
buildings are comprised of an assortment of loafing sheds and pens, the majority of which are in
very poor condition. Many of the buildings appear to be salvage, moved on to the site from
different locations. Siding materials varies, from roofing shingles to untreated vertical and
horizontal board, to slab siding. The structures do not have any unusual characteristics, either in
construction materials, design, or appearance, nor are any of a rare type or use.
The farm site's integrity has further been compromised through the addition of several non -
historic structures. These include a mobile home and modern pipe corrals, as well as several
older farm outbuildings that have been moved from other, unknown, locations. The buildings
and structures have no architectural importance, and the site has no known historical importance.
