Re: King Soopers Fueling Store # 9 -Taft Hill & Elizabeth
Dear Steve & Sheri,
This letter is in response to the October 9, 2007 comments received regarding the layout of the
proposed fueling facility at Taft Hill and Elizabeth Street.
There was Concem that the fueling trucks would be wading to complete their entry due to
motorists exiting the site or waiting for a pump and that perfect movements would need to happen
in order for the site to work. IGng Soopers typically makes fueling deliveries during off-peak hours
when there is less of a chance for conflicts with vehicles and pedestrians.
The attached exhibit shows the truck movement into the site from Taft Hill Rd and shares the only
time the truck would have to wait is if someone is exiting the fueling station on to Taft Hill Rd they
could then exit in fnxd of the truck. There would never be a time when the fueling truck would be
waiting in the street for someone to finish fueling. There is adequate room on the south side of
the site for the truck to pull in and wait. It is common for any type of delivery truck to wait when
making a delivery.
The truck turning exhibit shows the rear wheels of the truck stay within the driveway flare area
and that pedestrians standing on the sidewalk are in no danger of getting hit by the fueling truck.
The driveway width on Taft Hill Rd. has been reduced to meet City of Fort Collins commercial
driveway standards (detail drawings 706 & 707).
Attached is an AutoCAD v 2004 copy of the drawing file for you to do an analysis of the turning
template. If you require an earlier version please let me know.
An ademate layout is attached with the canopy and cars parked with a 90 degree layout, this
layout will block cars fueling from the center island as well as access to the site from the grocery
center, with inadequate clearances at the sides for two way traffic.
We feel that a meeting to discuss all these comments would be very beneficial to all parties.
Please let us know when a good time would be to meet.
Sincerely,
Galloway
