Subject: Stealth tower app Taft Hill and Valley Forge
Steve, thanks again for helping us last night to better understand the review process and issues related to
the T-mobile corn tower application at Taft Hill and Valley Forge.
I know the public discussion was rapid last night at Blevins JHS, and I could see that it was hard for you
to keep up with the flip chart notes. I'm writing just to verify that the following discussions are included
in your notes.
The T-mobile communications facility does not fit well into our predominantly RL Zoning District.
Their facility would be much more compatible with our community if it were sited at or near the new
PFA fire station at Drake and Taft Hill.
We are also concerned about adequate maintenance of the stealth flag pole over the 25-30 year
agreement between T-mobile and the property owner. The current owner lives in California, and the
property is for sale. T-mobile believes that maintenance of the flag and other aesthetics of the antenna is
the responsibility of the property owner, not T-mobile. The community members in attendance seemed
to agree that the City permit should clarify that a flag should be a continuous feature of the stealth flag
pole, and the flag should be replaced when it is tattered, faded and no longer in respectable condition. I
hope the City permit will clarify responsibilities of T-mobile and the property owner on this issue. There
must also be compelling consequences to T-mobile and the property owner if these responsibilities are
not honored.
Thanks again.
