SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES: r . SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL SHALL PROTECT AGAINST LOSS OF SOIL BY THE ACTION OF WATER, ICE, GRAVITY OR WIND. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN EACH WORK AREA PRIOR TO WORK COMMENCING IN THAT AREA. MEASURES SHALL BE REMOVED AFTER FINAL RESTORATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL WORK AREAS. NO WORK SMALL BE UNDERTAKEN WITHOUT SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES IN PLACE. 1. KEEP DISTURBED AREA AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE. 2. STABILIZE AND/OR PROTECT DISTURBED AREAS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 3. KEEP STORM WATER RUNOFF VELOCITIES LOW. 4. RETAIN SEDIMENT WITHIN IMMEDIATE CONSTRUCTION AREA THE PURPOSE OF THIS PLAN IS TO SPECIFY METHODS FOR TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL DURING CONSTRUCTION. IT IS INTENDED THAT MEASURES CALLED FOR IN THE SPECIFICATIONS AND SHOWN ON THESE PUNS BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO. COLLECTED SILT AND SEDIMENTATION SHALL BE REMOVED PERIODICALLY TO MAINTAIN THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SILT TRAPS OR SEDIMENTATION CONTROL DEVICES. WHERE REWIRED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE FILTER MATERIALS WHICH HAVE BECOME INEFFECTIVE DUE TO CONTAMINATION, CLOGGING OR PHYSICAL DETERIORATION. IF POSSIBLE, NO GRUBBING SHOULD BE DONE WITHIN 30' OF AN ACTIVE WATERCOURSE THERE ARE NO KNOWN WATERCOURSES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA. ALL TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL OEWCES SMALL BE REMOVED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT THE COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION UNLESS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER AND CONTROLLING ENTITY TO BE LEFT IN PLACE. CARE SHALL BE TAKEN DURING REMOVAL TO MINIMIZE SILTATION IN NEARBY DRAINAGE COURSES. NO STOCKPILES OF SOIL OR SPOILS SHALL BE MAINTAINED ON THE ROUTE. ALL SPOILS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE WORK AREA AND DISPOSED OF IN AN APPROVED MANNER. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL: (TEMPORARY FACILITIES) THE CONTRACTOR'S CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES FOR THIS PROJECT SMALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAWS, LOCAL ORDINANCES AND PERMIT REQUIREMENTS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES DESCRIBED BELOW AND CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN FACILITIES SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS TO CONTROL SOIL EROSION DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT. ALL DISTURBED SURFACE AREAS (INCLUDING UTILITY TRENCHES) SHALL BE TEMPORARILY GRADED AND/OR DITCHED TO DIRECT ALL RUNOFF WATER FROM THESE AREAS TO SEDIMENTATION CONTROL DEVICES WHICH WILL PREVENT SEDIMENT FROM ENTERING A WATERCOURSE, SEWER, OR ADJACENT LINOS. SUCH SEDIMENTATION CONTROL DEVICES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO PROTECTIVE DITCHES, SEDIMENT TRAPS, SEDIMENT FILTERS, DITCH TRAPS, PIPE BARRIERS, AND FILTERS AS DETAILED AND LOCATED ON THE DRAWINGS. AFTER THE PROJECT WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. INSPECTED, AND APPROVED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL SEDIMENTATION CONTROL DEVICES, MATERIAL, AND THEIR COLLECTED SILT AND DEBRIS AND COMPLETE THE PROJECT WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS. IN ROADWAY AREAS TEMPORARY AGGREGATE SURFACING SHALL BE PLACED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE BACKFlWNG OPERATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED. POSITIVE DUST CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN AT ALL TIMES. PERMANENT STABILIZATION IN UNPAVED AREAS SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 5 DAYS AFTER FINAL GRADE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. PERMANENT STABILIZATION SHALL CONSIST OF PLACING TOPSOIL, SEEDING AND MULCHING AND/OR SODDING THESE DISTURBED AREAS OF THE PROJECT. SEED OR SOD PER CITY STANDARDS CURRENT AT TIME OF CONSTRUCTION. IF SEASONAL CONDITIONS PREVENT FINAL CLEANUP AND RESTORATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROCEED WITH TEMPORARY STABILIZATION OF THE DISTURBED AREA, TEMPORARY STABILIZATION SMALL BE ACCEPTABLE TO THE CONTROLLING ENTITY AND THE ENGINEER. WHEN SEASONAL CONDTITONS ALLOW RESTORATION WORK TO CONTINUE. TEMPORARY STABILIZATION MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED AND APPROPRIATELY DISPOSED OF. FINAL CLEANUP AND RESTORATION SHALL THEN BE COMPUTED. ALL SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION WORK DESCRIBED HEREIN AND SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS WILL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE CONTRACT.
