OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT"ESTABLISHING
THE POUDRE FIRE AUTHORIT(
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and the Poudre Valley Fire Protec-
tion District have entered into previous agteements providing for mutual
aid and automatic aid for the purpose of providing fire and rescue services
within the respective territorial limits of the City and the District,
and
WHEREAS, these previous agreements have ben mutually beneficial in
providing a higher degree of protection to persons and property within the
respective territorial limits of the City and the District, and
WHEREAS, in 1981, the City and the District entered into an interim
agreement providing for the initial consolidation of fire protection
services and the establishment of an advisory governing board, and
WHEREAS, by entering into this agreement, the City and the District
desire to provide for the formation of an independent governmental entity
for the purpose of providing fire and rescue services within the respective
territorial limits of the City and the District, and
WHEREAS, the independent governmental entity which shall be created as
a result of the consolidation of fire protection services shall hereafter
be known as the Poudre Fire Authority, and
WHEREAS, this agreement provides for the creation of a governing board
of the Authority, composed of representatives of the City and the District,
and
WHEREAS, this agreement provides a basis for joint funding of the
Authority by the City and the District
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an
intergovernmental agreement with the Poudre Valley Fire Protection District
for the purpose of consolidating fire protection services and creating an
independent governmental entity to be known as the Poudre Fire Authority
Passed and adopted at a reqular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins this 15th day of December, A D 1981
