OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO MAKE APPLICATION THROUGH
THE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, STATE OF COLORADO
FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION FUNDING
FOR A FAMILY CONFLICTS INTERVENTION UNIT
WHEREAS, in 1978 the Fort Collins Police Department handled approxi-
mately 875 family conflict cases, and
WHEREAS, crisis counselling skills should be utilized in these sensi-
tive and often volatile situations, and
WHEREAS, regular patrol officers cannot take time during peak hours
when most conflicts occur to effectively intervene
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City be, and it hereby is, authorized and directed to
make application through the Division of Criminal Justice, State of
Colorado, for Law Enforcement Assistance Administration funding in the
amount of $57,451 for the establishment of a family conflicts intervention
unit, it being understood that if the grant should be awarded the City of
Fort Collins would be obligated to contribute 10 percent matching funds
in the amount of $6,384
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held
this 3rd day of July, A D 1979
