RESOLUTION 78-53
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
SETTING FORTH CERTAIN INTENTIONS OF THE
COUNCIL IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROPOSAL TO
FORM AN URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, pursuant to Part I, Article 25, Title 31 of the Colorado
Revised Statutes the City Council has heretofore received a petition
setting forth a need for an Urban Renewal Authority in the City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish an Urban Renewal
Authority for the purpose of eliminating urban blight in certain areas
of the City and to restore and renovate said areas, and
WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Authority must be created in accor-
dance with State Statutes pertaining thereto and said Statutes would
allow an Urban Renewal Authority to exist indefinitely and further to
accomplish many different urban renewal projects, and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to set forth its intentions with
regard to the establishment of an Urban Renewal Authority for the City
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS
Section 1 The City Council hereby declares its intention to
create an Urban Renewal Authority for the purpose of
undertaking an urban renewal project for that area
in the City known as the "Triangle" and bounded by
College Avenue on the west, by Mountain Avenue on the
South and by the right of way of The Union Pacrfic
Railroad on the northeast
Section 2 The City Council does not intend to utilize said
Urban Renewal Authority to undertake any urban renewal
project other than that anticipated for the "Triangle"
area
Section 3 It is not the intention of the City Council in adopting
this resolution to bind future City Councils of the
City to any course of action, and the City Council
recognizes that it could not purport to limit the
Authority of future Councils in this manner The
City Council does, however, desire that its intentions
in proposing the formation of an Urban Renewal Authority
be made a matter of public record and, therefore, this
resolution is adopted
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council
held this 5th day of July, A D 1978
