HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-083-06/15/1982-ADOPTING ALIGNMENT PLANS FOR LEMAY AVENUE FROM LINCOLN AVENUE TO CONIFER STREET AND FOR BUCKINGHAM A RESOLUTION 82-83 THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOP ING ALIGNMENT PLANS FOR LEMAY AVENUE FROM LINCOLN VENUE TO CONIFER STREET AND FOR BUCKINGHAM AND REDWOOD STREETS FROM LEMAY AVENUE TO CONIFER STREET WHEREAS, the City f Fort Collins has engaged Transplan Associates to evaluate alternative all nments for Lemay Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to Conifer Street and for Buc Ingham and Redwood Streets from Lemay Avenue to Conifer Street, and WHEREAS, the Council ha conducted a number of hearings to receive comments from the public concer ing such alignment plans, and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has favorably con- sidered and reviewed the plans s mitted by Transplan Associates, which make recommendations for the com letion of three project phases for said street alignments as follows Phase I recommendation 1 Lemay Avenue - Adopt the "Middle lignment" as the future corridor for Lemay Avenue from north of Lin oln Avenue to south of Conifer Street Identify the right-of-way, nd work with adjacent proper- ty owners and developers to acquire t e right-of-way by dedication and build the road as development occu s 2 Buckingham Street/Redwood Street A Extend Redwood Street from Conifer Str t south to the inter- section of Vine Drive and Linden Street, working with adjacent property owners, the Colorado Division Highways, and the Platte River Power Authority to accomplis the needed align- ment B Signalize the intersection of Redwood Street, ine Drive, and Linden Street and install rail crossing protec ion equipment at the Linden Street/C & S crossing C Connect Buckingham Street to Linden Street with a ropriate collector street design D Connect Buckingham Street to Lemay Avenue with approp late collector street design as shown in the report E Install traffic signal on Linden Street Bridge and proceed with the minor repairs to the existing bridge Nit dGd-.e } Phase II recommendation Build the "Middle Alignment" of Lemay Avenue to arterial and street design standards Modify the Buckingham-Lemay intersection to conform with the new Lemay Avenue alignment The old Lemay Avenue would cul-de-sac at the C & S railroad tracks Phase III recommendation Connect the Parkway to the Redwood Street collector and the Lemay Avenue arterial street network , and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the approval of said plans will be in the best interests of the residents of the City of Fort Collins NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the three phase street alignment plans as submitted by Trans- plan Associates for the above designated streets be, and hereby are, adopted and approved Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 15th day of June, A D 1982 Mayor ATTEST City Clerk -2-
