HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-177-10/04/1983-DIRECTING STAFF TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOP A HOTEL/MOTEL ROOM TAX RESOLUTION 83-177 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS DIRECTING STAFF TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOP A HOTEL/MOTEL ROOM TAX WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that existing revenue sources are inadequate to fund certain identified needs in the City, and WHEREAS, the likely addition of significant numbers of hotel or motel rooms within the City in the near future presents a potential new revenue base NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO Section 1 That the Council declares its support for the concept of a Hotel/Motel Room Tax, to be imposed on the renting of hotel or motel rooms for a period of less than thirty days, thus being a tax to be paid pri- marily by visitors to the City of Fort Collins Section 2 That the Hotel /Motel Room Tax proceeds would be speci- fically earmarked for use before such a tax would be implemented Possible uses include capital improvements such as streets or making on-going the Air Quality Monitoring Program being developed with Revenue Sharing funds in 1984 Section 3 That the Council directs the City staff to research and develop a Hotel/Motel Room Tax, and, if deemed feasible, to recommend such a tax to Council for adoption and implementation effective January 1, 1984 Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 4th day of October, A D 1983 ATTEST Ma City Clerk
