HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-094-10/06/2009-AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR TH RESOLUTION 2009-094 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HARMONY ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT WHEREAS,in August 2009,the Colorado Department ofTransportation("CDOT")awarded the City $1,600,000 in Surface Transportation Program-Metro Funds for the East Harmony Road Bridge Replacement Project (the "Bridge Project"); and WHEREAS,the remainder of funds in support of the Bridge Project include a local agency match of D')2,600 and a local agency overmatch of$267,400; and WHEREAS,the local matching funds in the amount of$600,000 will be provided from the City Bridge Program Fund; and WHEREAS, the East Harmony Road bridge, which was built in 1968, is one of ten structurally deficient bridges located within the City; and WHEREAS,the replacement of this bridge will eliminate a sight distance hazard located east of Lady Moon Drive and will accommodate three lanes of travel, a bicycle lane, and a sidewalk, in both eastbound and westbound directions from Timberline Road to Interstate Highway 25; and WHEREAS,the Bridge Project is consistent with the Harmony Corridor Plan and the Master Street Plan; and WHEREAS,the City Council has determined that the Bridge Project is in the best interests of the City and that the contract with CDOT for the construction of the Bridge Project should be executed by the Mayor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the construction of the Harmony Road Bridge Replacement Project for a total cost of $2,200,000, with $1,600,000 of said amount to be funded from Surface Transportation Program-Metro Funds obtained from the Colorado Department of Transportation,with the remaining $600,000 to be funded by the City.
