RESOLUTION 81-6
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ESTABLISHING THE PREFERENCE OF THE CITY WITH
REGARD TO THE LOCATION OF A PROPOSED EXPRESSWAY
TO BE CONSTRUCTED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department of the State of Colorado has had
under consideration for some time establishing an expressway around the
City of Fort Collins to eliminate traffic congestion on the pnEsent State
Highway No 14 and a portion of State Highway 287, and
WHEREAS, various routes have been proposed for such expressway and a
study of the proposed routes was made and reported on in the Ermironmental
Impact Statement and in the Draft Design Report, aid
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore considered the €question of
selecting a route for the proposed expressway and hac made a determination
that the City favors establishing the expressway along the route designated
as Orange-Purple-Red Alignment west of North College Avenue (E H 287) ,
and
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department is proceeding w th diYe necessary
impact statements and engineering studies in connection � h ffstablis - ing
such expressway and it appears desirable for the City of fort Collins to
reconsider the questions posed as to the location oT such expressway west
of North College Avenue (S H 287) and the City Council has reconsidered
such question
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS
1 That the City Council reaffirms its recommendation sto the State
Highway Department that the route designated as Orange-Purple-Rad Alignment
in the Draft Design Report be the corridor for the proposed expressway,
and
2 That the City of Fort Collins hereby affirms that the State
Highway Department has done everything possible in connectica with the
location of such expressway to maintain the integrity of the LaPorte area
and the City of Fort Collins, and
3 That the City of Fort Collins further affirms that the State
Highway Department has located such expressway to minimize damge to the
business and residential community located along the Orange-Purple-Red
Alignment in the City and to minimize adverse affects on agricultural
interests which will be affected by the location of such expressway, and
4 The City Council further supports the State Highway Department
locations for interchanges on the proposed expressway
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
20th day of January, A D 1981
