HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-183-12/15/1981-RELATIVE TO THE VOTES PROVIDED TO THE FORT COLLINS URBANIZED AREA THROUGH THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING RESOLUTION 81- 183 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS_ RELATIVE TO THE VOTES PROVIDED TO THE FORT COLLINS URBANIZED AREA THROUGH THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION WHEREAS, Federal statutes require urbanized areas with populations of over 50,000 inhabitants to form metropolitan planning organizations , and WHEREAS, according to the 1980 decennial census, the City of Fort Collins' population is in excess of 50,000 inhabitants and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is a participant in a metropolitan planing organization which, in addition to Fort Collins, consists of Larimer County, City of Greeley and other communities within the Greeley Urbanized area, and WHEREAS the Metropolitan Planning Orqanization has devised a plan whereby the Greeley Urbanized Area and the Fort Collins Urbanized Area are to have ten votes each on the Metropolitan Policy Board, and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and Larimer County have agreed to split the ten votes of the Fort Collins Urbanized Area on the basis of their respective populations, and WHEREAS, according to the 1980 decennial census the City of Fort Collins ' population is 65,092, and the County of Larimer's population in the urbanized area around Fort Collins is 13,195 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that 1 Each urbanized area participating in the Metropolitan Planning Organization shall be entitled to ten votes to be distributed among the various communities participating in the Metropolitan Planning Organiza- tion, and 2 That of the ten votes to which the Fort Collins Urbanized Area is entitled, the City of Fort Collins shall receive and shall exercise 8 votes, and Larimer County shall exercise 2 votes Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 15th day of December, 1981 Ma r -- — -`--- ATTEST
