HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-076-08/18/2009-EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE POSTHUMOUSLY TO DANIEL ARTHUR PREBLE FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESOLUTION 2009-076 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE POSTHUMOUSLY TO DANIEL ARTHUR PREBLE FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GOLF BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY WHEREAS, Daniel Arthur Preble served on the Golf Board from 1984-1992 and was again appointed as a member on January 1, 2004; and WHEREAS, Mr. Preble served on the Golf Board until his death on July 8, 2009; and WHEREAS, Mr. Preble faithfully attended meetings of the Golf Board, strongly encouraged Junior golf, and actively participated in the annual Fort Collins Fore Kids event and; WHEREAS, Mr. Preble moved to Fort Collins with his family in 1962, attending Lesher Junior High, Fort Collins High, CU and CSU; and WHEREAS, Mr. Preble's love for science and sports fed him into a teaching career in the Poudre School District for 31 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Preble was honored to have the Preston football field renamed and dedicated as Preble Field at Preston and the city Junior High tournament medalist award named, "The Preble Medalist Award;" and WHEREAS, the City Council, on behalf of the staff of the City, fellow Golf Board members, and the community, wishes to formally express its appreciation and gratitude to Daniel Arthur Preble posthumously for his contributions to the community and the City of Fort Collins, and to express its profound and sincere sympathy to his widow Cathy Preble, and to his entire family. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Council adopt this Resolution to provide an enduring record of the contributions of Dan Preble to the community and to the City of Fort Collins as a member of the Golf Board.
