HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-028-03/04/1997-IN SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSED BUILDING COMMUNITY CHOICES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BALLOT ISSUES APPE r r RESOLUTION 97-28 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS IN SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSED "BUILDING COMMUNITY CHOICES" CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BALLOT ISSUES APPEARING ON THE APRIL 8, 1997 MUNICIPAL ELECTION BALLOT WHEREAS, on December 31, 1997, three voter approved one-quarter cent sales and use taxes will expire; WHEREAS, on February 4, 1997, City Council placed three capital improvement packages on the April 8, 1997 municipal election ballot in the form of proposed Ordinance Nos. 29, 30 and 31, 1997; and WHEREAS,Ordinance No.29, 1997 will provide funding for natural areas,open lands,trails and parks projects; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 30, 1997 will provide funding for the Street Maintenance and Overlay program, and other transportation projects; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 31, 1997 will provide funding for projects such as street construction, recreation projects, land acquisition, and library technology; and WHEREAS,the foregoing"Building Community Choices"projects will benefit Fort Collins residents throughout the community; and WHEREAS, Fort Collins residents worked together to develop a list of projects which address a variety of community needs from which list the foregoing projects were selected; and WHEREAS,the April 8, 1997, municipal election will be conducted as a mail ballot, with ballots being mailed to all registered voters in the city on March 24, 1997; and WHEREAS,the City Council is supportive of the packages which have been referred to the voters of Fort Collins. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Fort Collins City Council supports and endorses the "Building Community Choices" Capital Improvement Program ballot issues, and urges the citizens of Fort Collins to approve Ordinance Nos. 29, 30, and 31, 1997 at the April 8, 1997 municipal election.
