OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY MANAGER OF
A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT
WITH BLACK 8 VEATCH ENGINEERS FOR SERVICES
DURING CONSTRUCTION OF WATER STABILZATION FACILITIES
AT WATER TREATMENT PLANT #1 AND
WATER TREATMENT PLANT #2
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that
it is necessary and it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City
of Fort Collins that immediate action be taken to correct the electro-
chemically aggressive water conditions that exist in the treated water
produced by the City's WTP #1 and WTP #2, and
WHEREAS, the Council has further determined that it is necessary and
it is in the best interest of the ci twens of the City of Fort Collins
that immediate steps be taken to correct the alum carryover at WTP #1,
which carryover results in detrimental deposits of alum within the water
distribution system of the City of Fort Collins, and
WHEREAS, certain studies concerning various deficiencies at WTP #1,
including alum carryover and corrosive water have been previously conducted
by Black and Veatch Engineers, and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interest
of the City that continuity be maintained with respect to the alum and
corrosivity problems as aforesaid by the engagement of a single consultant
from design through construction
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute
an agreement with Black 8 Veatch Engineers for services during construction
of water stabilization facilities at the City' s Water Treatment Plants #1
and #2 for a cost not to exceed One Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand Eight
Hundred and Five Dollars (E195,805)
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
19th day of July, A 0 1983
