REGARDING THE CONTINUATION OF MARGARET E REEVES
(PEGG� REEVES) ON THE FORT COLLINS CITY COUNCIL
AFTER HER ELECTION AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF
THE DEMOCRAT PARTY FROM HOUSE DISTRICT 47
WHEREAS , the Charter of the City of Foit Collins provides
that members of City Council accept their nomination on a non-
partisan basis , and
WHEREAS , Peggy Reeves was successfully elected on Novembei 2 ,
1982 , a representative to the Colorado House of Representatives
from District 47 as a member of the Democrat party , and
WHEREAS , she has become active in partisan politics even
prior to the time she is officially sworn in as a legislator , and
WHEREAS , such partisan political activity by Peggy Reeves
may be viewed as inconsistent with the provisions of the City
Charter , and
WHEREAS , the Charter of the City of Foit Collins requires
the Fort Collins City Council to appoint a person within thirty
(30) days of the resignation of a councilperson , and
WHEREAS , it would be in the best interests of the City of
Fort Collins to appoint a non-partisan replacement for Peggy
Reeves as soon as possible , and
WHEREAS , Peggy Reeves has stated she does intend to resign
her position upon the Fort Collins City Council as a result of
her new duties as a State legislator ,
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT COLLINS that Peggy Reeves exhibit her leadership qualities
and resign hei seat on the Fort Collins City Council effective no
later than December 1 , 1982 , to permit the orderly selection of a
non-partisan replacement as required by the Fort Collins City
Charter
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of
the City of Fort Collins , held this 16th day of Novembei , 1982
