RESOLUTION 82- 168
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A MUTUAL AID
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITIES OF ESTES PARK, FORT COLLINS,
LONGMONT AND LOVELAND, COLORADO
WHEREAS, it has been the tradition of the cities of Estes Park ,
Loveland, Longmont and Fort Collins to cooperate with one another with
regard to their City electric utility systems, and to come to the aid of a
sister city in the event of emergency, and
WHEREAS, the said cities wish to formalize their understandings of
mutual aid by written agreement thereof, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins deems it in the best
interest of the City that a formal agreement be made with the cities of
Estes Park, Loveland and Longmont to furnish mutual aid to the electric
utility systems of said cities in cases of emergencies caused by the
destruction or damage of electric lines, equipment or facilities on a
scale that overtaxes said systems' manpower, equipment and other facilities
and which results in a major breakdown of service and, in addition, to
agree with said municipalities toward the cooperation of electric utility
systems for the purpose of sharing equipment or materials on a non-emer-
gency basis
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is , authorized to execute a
"mutual aid" agreement with the cities of Estes Park, Loveland and Longmont
for the purpose of furnishing mutual aid to said cities in the cases of
emergencies caused by the destruction or damage of electric lines, equip-
ment or facilities on a scale that overtaxes the systems' manpower, equip-
ment and other facilities and which results in a major breakdown of ser-
vice, and for the purpose of cooperating toward the sharing of equipment or
materials in non-emergency conditions, said agreement to be conditioned
upon the availability of materials and personnel of the electric utility
of the City of Fort Collins not required to maintain services to the
citizens of the City of Fort Collins and other customers of the City
electric utility and on condition that the assisted City shall pay all
costs that may be incurred by the City of Fort Collins in making provision
for such mutual aid
Passed and adopted at a adjourned meeting of the City Council held
this 23rd day of November, A D 1982
