AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO
A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH NORTHERN TELECOM, INC.
FOR IMPROVING AND UPGRADING THE CITY'S
TELEPHONE SYSTEM AND EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, in 1978 the City purchased the SL-1L telephone system from
Northern Telecom, Inc., which system was designed to accommodate a maximum
of seven hundred and fifty (750) telephone lines; and
WHEREAS, that maximum has been reached and there is a need to upgrade
that system to accommodate additional voice and data lines and to provide
for the upgrade of the PBX from the model SL-1L to model SL-IN; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the upgrade shall not exceed Two Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000) ; and
WHEREAS, monies are available in the Communications Fund for the lease
payments specified in the Lease Agreement; and
WHEREAS, following the provisions of Section 2-60(A) (4) of the Code
of the City of Fort Collins, the bidding procedure will not be required as
the system is based on particular individual usage and professional advice;
and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Manager to enter into a 5-Year
Lease Agreement with Northern Telecom, Inc., which is renewable annually,
to enable this upgrade to proceed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into a 5-Year Annually Renewable Lease Agreement with Northern Telecom,
Inc. for the upgrade of the City' s communication system, the cost of which
shall not exceed Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000) .
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 3rd day of July, A.D. 1984.
