OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT THAT WOULD PROVIDE A STRUCTURE FOR JOINT MANAGEMENT
OF THE FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the governance of the Fort Collins-Loveland Airport has been
structured under a 1979 Agreement since the dissolution of the Fort
Collins-Loveland Airport Authority; and
WHEREAS, developing a short-term governance solution has been a topic
of discussion between the Councils of the two cities since July of this
year; and
WHEREAS, the Mayors, Assistant Mayors, City Managers and other staff
of the two communities began meeting in August of this year to discuss
possible short-term and long-term solutions for the governance of the
Airport; and
WHEREAS, it is important to clarify, in an Intergovernmental
Agreement, the roles and expectations of the two communities as they relate
to governance of the Airport; and
WHEREAS, long-term governance solutions may require a proactive stance
on the part of the two communities to encourage the State Legislature to
pass enabling legislation providing for Airport Districts that have taxing
authority; and
WHEREAS, the Leadership Teams of the two communities generally concur
that a two-year agreement providing for joint management of the Airport
will provide an opportunity for the two partners to reestablish their joint
commitment and concern for the Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fort Collins City Council does
hereby affirm its support for an intergovernmental agreement that would
provide a structure for joint management of the Fort Collins-Loveland
Municipal Airport for the next two years.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 16th day of October, A.D. 1990.,
