HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-144-09/18/1984-AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY RESOLUTION 84-144 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (WESTERN AREA POWER ADMINISTRATION) FOR COST SHARING OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS LIGHT & POWER UTILITY LOAD RESEARCH/ PILOT PROGRAM WHEREAS, four years ago the Light & Power Utility instituted the Residential Demand Rate which provides a cost-based incentive for owners of electrically heated homes to improve electric usage efficiency; and WHEREAS, the Light & Power Utility desires to assess the effectiveness of the Residential Demand Rate; and WHEREAS, the Light & Power Utility has developed a Load/Research Pilot Program which will sample individual loads in electrically heated homes where demand control devices are in use; and WHEREAS, this program will allow the Utility to determine the overall impact of demand control equipment used by its customers, gain insight into rate design and develop a load control program; and WHEREAS, estimated cost of the Load Research/Pilot Program is Eighty- Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($87 ,800) ; and WHEREAS, the US Department of Energy Western Area Power Administration has offered a cost sharing contract to the City of Fort Collins wherein a maximum amount of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) would be given toward the cost of the program in exchange for the results of the research/pilot program for sharing with its customers ; and WHEREAS, the Light & Power Utility has budgeted funds for its share of this program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is , authorized to enter into an Agreement with the US Department of Energy Western Area Power Adminis- tration wherein the cost of the Utility Load Research/Pilot Program of the Light & Power Utility will be shared by the Western Area Power Adminis- tration by the payment of cost sharing funds not to exceed Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) .
