AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO
A CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH REID BURTON
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR SERVICES IN CONNECTION
WITH THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE INDOOR POOL/ICE RINK
WHEREAS, on May 1, 1984, the citizens of Fort Collins passed a 1/4Q
sales tax for five years for the design and construction of an indoor
pool/ice rink ; and
WHEREAS, Reid Burton Construction Company was the firm selected in
1979, using the City' s standard selection process, to perform the con-
struction management services for this project; and
WHEREAS, Reid Burton Construction Company has many years of excellent
local experience in the construction industry and the firm is composed of
the same personnel which worked on the Indoor Pool/Ice Rink project in
1979; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of Fort Collins
that Reid Burton Construction Company be selected to perform said construc-
tion management services at this time; and
WHEREAS, Reid Burton Construction Company proposes to perform such
services during the design phases for a "not-to-exceed" fee of Fifty
Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($50,400) and a "fixed-price" for the con-
struction phase which will be determined at the start of the construction
phase based upon the total cost of the items of work which have been bid,
all general conditions (on-the-job costs) as negotiated, and a fee for
management of the entire project; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-66 of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins, no professional services agreement in excess of Twenty Thousand
Dollars ($20,000) shall be entered into until approved by the City Council
in an open Council meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into a Construction Management Agreement with Reid Burton Construction
Company for services in connection with the design and construction of the
Indoor Pool /Ice Rink for a sum not to exceed Fifty Thousand Four Hundred
Dollars ($50,400) for the design phases and a "fixed-price" for the con-
struction phase which will be determined at the start of the construction
phase based upon the total cost of all items of work which have been bid,
all general conditions (on-the-job costs) as negotiated, and a fee for
management of the entire project.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 30th day of October 1984.
